TIGER is putting its industry-leading finishes in the spotlight in this competition, featuring one of BattleBots’ most legendary competitors, HyperShock.

Known for their durability, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal, TIGER Coatings’ powder coatings provide long-lasting protection while meeting stringent quality standards, helping HyperShock maintain its iconic battle-ready yellow finish.

Once you sign up, we’ll send you a folder with everything you need: the CAD file to design around, the TIGER Coatings KeyShot material pack for your renderings, and the TIGER 2025 Trendbook. Just scroll to the bottom of the page to sign up.

STEP2 l Choose Your Challenge!

🏆 Challenge A: Armor & Wheel Defense

Redesign the exterior panels to give HyperShock a fresh identity while keeping them attached to the existing screw points (see CAD). But there’s a twist, combat robots are vulnerable at the wheels! Your mission is to integrate a smart wheel protection feature to make HyperShock even more unstoppable in battle. Think shields, retractable guards, or an entirely new defense mechanism, go beast mode!

🏆 Challenge B: New Camera System to Enhanced Vision

Redesign the exterior panels and integrate a strategically placed camera, the driver’s eyes in battle. Find the best position for optimal visibility, allowing the operator to time their attacks perfectly. Your design should not only be functional but also protect the camera from opponent strikes.

🏆 Challenge C: Go full Beast!

Redesign the entire robot for ultimate battle performance. Upgrade its weapons for maximum impact, reinforce its armor for durability, optimize its tires for superior grip, and add new studs for better traction. Finish it off with custom graphics to make your beast look as fierce as it performs. No limits, full fun, full beast mode!

We’ve put together multiple TIGER Digital Finishes (KeyShot) for you to take your design to the next level. You are required to use at least 2 TIGER Digital Finishes (from one or both collections) in your designs.

If you are not using KeyShot, feel free to reproduce the materials you see in the TIGER Trend Book 2025.

Surface finishing is as important as the functional design of HyperShock. TIGER Coatings Powder Coatings play a crucial role in HyperShock’s durability and style. As the official coating partner, TIGER created high-performance and battle-ready finishes for HyperShock, called Battlecoats. These finishes enhance both protection and aesthetics. Feel free to choose from the TIGER Digital Finishes of powder coating (only to be used on metal surfaces) to complete your design and make HyperShock stand out in battle!

Submission Guidelines

Visuals

Participants should create renderings from different angles, including 2D views and close-ups, to clearly show the concept. One image should show the product in context (outdoors, in use, etc.)

Format

You must send a series of 3 to 6 .jpeg or .png that combines the following formats:

2160 x 2700 px 2160 x 2160 px

This will make it easier for us and you to share them on the leManoosh wall and Instagram + IG stories.

The story

Include a brief description or the story behind your concept, highlighting the key features you want us to understand for a thorough evaluation.

Also, tell us a bit about yourself. If you have an Instagram account with your work, feel free to share it.

Optional

Optionally, you may include sketches or parts of your design process, as well as animations or videos explaining potential features to show how they work.

Contest Participation Agreement

Thank you for taking part in our design contest! We value your creativity and want to make sure everyone has a great experience.

By participating in the contest, you agree to grant TIGER ownership of the designs, allowing them to use your work on their social media while giving you full credit. Additionally, you agree not to initiate any legal disputes against TIGER Coatings and HyperShock. This ensures clarity and prevents any legal issues. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Judging Criteria

Creativity & Design Thinking

Originality, depth of problem-solving innovation and how your concept uniquely addresses challenges and explores new ideas. Look for designs that push boundaries and introduce fresh approaches. Exceptional entries will reflect imaginative solutions and refined main components or inventive accessories.

Aesthetic

Overall aesthetic appeal, style, and harmony of the design. This category focuses on the visual balance and coherence of the design elements. Judges will seek entries that achieve a refined, aesthetically pleasing look that complements the functionality and brand image. You should use a minimum of 2 TDFs (Tiger Digital Files).

Brand Integration

Effectiveness in representing the HyperShock brand and its aesthetic is crucial. Entries should be easily recognizable, whether through signature colors, unique logo integration, or creative reinterpretations. While designs should reflect the essence and visual identity of HyperShock, there's room to explore and experiment with color variations to bring a fresh yet cohesive look. Additionally, TIGER Shield Logo needs to be included.

Rendering Realism & Creativity

Another key criterion for winning is the quality of realism, including lighting, shading, and texturing. Attention to detail is crucial, make sure to include both overall views and zoomed-in shots that highlight textures, surfaces, and intricate design features. For environment rendering, ensure your scene aligns with the HyperShock Instagram aesthetic, reinforcing its battle-ready identity. Judges will evaluate not just the design itself, but also the artistic presentation techniques that enhance visual impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I redesign the HyperShock robot or focus on colors & materials?

Yes! You can do either or do both!:

1️⃣ Redesign the HyperShock BattleBot. Modify parts of the robot or go all-in by redesigning the exterior protective panels (the yellow and pink parts), creating new weapons, new wheels, or adding superb new features. Push your creativity and design skills to the limit! 🚀🔥

2️⃣ CMF / Rendering Challenge: Focus on colors, materials, and finishes using Tiger Coatings’ high-performance Battlecoats finishes (don’t forget to download the files). These coatings are built to withstand intense battles, making your design both stunning and durable.

💡 Mix it up! You can work on just one or combine both for a complete design change. The most important thing? Have fun, create awesome designs, details and vibrant visuals, to share this masterpiece on Instagram & leManoosh! 🔥

🚀 Can I integrate new technologies or weapons?

Yes! You can do whatever you want, the brief is extremely open.

✅ Add new tech, weapons, or features.
✅ Modify existing parts while keeping HyperShock’s proportions (check the CAD files).

💡 But remember: The judging is based on design, not on weapon mechanics or weapon relevance. So don’t spend weeks on a new weapon and forget about the body, panels, camera protection, or wheel armor, these are the details that will matter to us!

Can I collaborate with friends or classmates?

Yes, you can design with a friend, a group of friends, or even your school. We welcome all submissions!

Can I participate regardless of my professional status?

Yes, you can join as a professional, student, freelancer, or even as a design studio. We welcome all work, regardless of your current professional status. Your work will always be promoted with a reference to the Instagram or website page where you want to be recognized.

Is there a coaching program available?

We have a small group for those who need more support, coached by Alex (leManoosh). These will be free sessions, planned over the next few weeks, to review your concepts and improve them. This is a great way to create a new project for your portfolio that can truly make a difference and help attract new job opportunities. If you need extra support, just email Alex: [email protected].

How many submissions can a person make for the competition?

As many as you want—there is no limit.

Do we have to use KeyShot for renders as a mandatory thing to participate ?

KeyShot is recommended, but you’re free to use other rendering software! If you are not using KeyShot, you can reproduce the material from the TIGER Trend Book 2025. Keep in mind, you are required to use at least 2 TIGER Digital Finishes (from one or both collections) in your designs.
