As a Color, Material, and Finish Developer on the FRL Industrial Design team, you bring extensive knowledge of industry trends, material and color development and management, and have the technical knowledge to work with our manufacturing partners to create production-ready materials and processes. You have a record of shipping successful products in the Consumer Electronics, Wearable Technology, Fashion, or Eyewear industries and are comfortable working collaboratively with cross-discipline teams and manufacturing partners. Color, Material, and Finish Designer - FRL Industrial Design Responsibilities
Interface with industry to research and develop proprietary and innovative hardware styles, construction details, material combinations, new production techniques, etc.
Assist in the continual gathering and sharing of trends in consumer electronics, eyewear and fashion markets.
Create fully resolved CMF strategy for presentation to team members, partners and manufactures.
Assist in the resolution of design, prototyping and manufacturing issues during the development phase
Create fully resolved solutions to communicate and resolve manufacturing and prototyping challenges.
Manage and maintain CMF product specifications for products in development from concept to production.
Occasional domestic and international travel is a requirement for this position.
Bachelors of Industrial Design from an accredited college or university, or relevant professional experience.
5+ years experience working as a CMF Designer/Developer.
Proficiency in communicating design vision, and concepts using 2D color renderings and 2D CAD.
Working knowledge of plastic injection molding, metal fabrication techniques, resin development, coating technologies, plastics decoration processes, fabrics and textiles.
