This role is based at our Phoenix, AZ HQ, and would require relocation to the Phoenix area.

As Lead User Experience Designer, you are a highly motivated, creative, and versatile individual with experience designing intuitive experiences.
You will collaborate with User Interface (UI) designers, technologists, and business stakeholders to craft meaningful experiences for our customers through thoughtful, data-informed design.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in interaction design, an understanding of and commitment to user-centered design.
You will apply your experience with interaction design and in-vehicle user experience to create new and innovative interaction paradigms while ensuring Nikola vehicles are easy and safe to operate.
As a lead, you will represent UX department within in the company and be an advocate for UX principles and values along with other members of the UX team.
A thorough understanding of the right balance between feature, technology, hardware, interior design, serving our brand’s purpose, business missions, and customer needs is a critical aspect of this role.
You will work closely with Software and UX teams in a collaborative effort to ensure all aspects of the user-centered design model are met.
What you’ll be creating:
Lead the creation of interaction paradigms, detailed wireframes, and UX documentation for the overall in-vehicle user experience and across all Nikola product platforms.
Generate design concepts, flows, wireframes, transitions, micro-interactions and prototypes.
Partner with researchers to gather consumer data, validate concepts, test prototypes and apply findings into you designs
Translate Nikola brand promise, strategy, and design language into world class experience.
Transform complex interactions into intuitive and safe user flows
Bring a UX point of view by collaborating with marketing on branded events & experiences.
