Roast Your Bean-magination

The possibilities for a mini coffee maker are endless. From compact designs for weekend warriors to ultraportable sturdy solutions for remote adventures, to high-practicality for campers, the creativity and innovation spectrum is vast. leManoosh is pleased to launch a creative contest in collaboration with Wacaco, a global leader in portable coffee and espresso machines!

The Brief!

Download the simplified version of the Wacaco Pipamoka as a blank canvas for general proportions and create a concept that serves a meaningful purpose for outdoor use, camping trips, bicycle adventures, and more. This could involve adding new features (hooks, belt or backpack attachments, an extra integrated cup, etc.), enhanced functionality, fresh aesthetics, new design details, or innovative accessories and ergonomics. Judging Criterias

Creativity

Originality, innovation and how your concept uniquely addresses challenges and explores new ideas. Look for designs that push boundaries and introduce fresh approaches. Exceptional entries will reflect imaginative solutions and a deep understanding of the product’s purpose.

Design Thinking

Depth of problem-solving and user-centric approach in the design process. Judges will look for entries that consider user needs, ergonomic solutions, and innovative ways to improve the Pipamoka experience, whether through refined main components or inventive accessories.

Aesthetic

Overall aesthetic appeal, style, and harmony of the design. This category focuses on the visual balance and coherence of the design elements. Judges will seek entries that achieve a refined, aesthetically pleasing look that complements the functionality and brand image.

Brand Integration

Effectiveness in representing the Wacaco brand and its aesthetic is crucial. Entries should be recognizable through color or unique logo integration. Designs must reflect the essence and visual identity of Wacaco, aligning with its adventurous and portable coffee culture.

Photorealism

Another criteria that can help you win is the quality of realism, including lighting, shading, and texturing. Entries should demonstrate skill in creating lifelike renders that convincingly emulate real materials and settings.

Rendering Creativity

For environment rendering, your ability to place your concept in a scene that aligns with the Wacaco Instagram account’s identity is crucial. Judges will consider artistic presentation techniques that enhance visual appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions

You have the option to do either. You can choose to redesign the Pipamoka with a fresh look or create an entirely new product, as long as it generally fits within the proportions of the Pipamoka. Just keep the size roughly similar to the Pipamoka. This is only to avoid designs that are way too big and we end up with coffee makers the size an office printer. Don’t worry if your design is a bit larger, smaller, or has unique features that stick out of the general shape. We just want all entries to have a similar general format.
Yes, you can add features as long as you believe they are relevant. However, remember that the design will be the main focus of the evaluation, rather than the technology used to enhance the product. While technology can be impressive, we are creating a coffee maker—not the next Cybertruck. So, keep it simple and focus on the design.
Yes, you can design with a friend, a group of friends, or even your school. We welcome all submissions!
Yes, you can join as a professional, student, freelancer, or even as a design studio. We welcome all work, regardless of your current professional status. Your work will always be promoted with a reference to the Instagram or website page where you want to be recognized.
We have a small group for those being coached by Alex. This is a paid coaching program where we meet twice a week to review your concepts and explore how to improve them. This is a great way to create a new project for your portfolio that can truly make a difference and help attract new job opportunities. If you want to join, just email [email protected].
As many as you want—there is no limit.
