About the job
We are looking for a Junior Product Designer with a passion for graphics and print design to join our creative team. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our bespoke division, collaborating with clients and internal teams to develop custom graphics and prints for a variety of products. You will be responsible for designing original artwork, patterns, and prints that enhance our product range, managing the products from concept to completion. In addition to bespoke work, you will also support the design team in developing new products when needed. Your designs will not only be visually compelling but also commercially viable and technically feasible for production. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will bring fresh, innovative ideas to life, ensuring every product reflects our brand identity and values.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design, including Graphics & Print
- Work closely with clients and internal teams to create unique, on-brand garment designs, graphics, prints, and surface patterns for bespoke products.
- Conduct trend research and market analysis to identify opportunities in garment design, print, and pattern development.
- Create original artwork, digital assets, and garment concepts that align with seasonal themes and customer needs.
- Develop and refine repeat patterns, placements, engineered prints, and garment silhouettes across various product categories.
- Ensure all designs are commercially viable, aesthetically strong, and technically suitable for production.
- Experiment with different fabrications, print techniques, textures, and materials to enhance the overall product appeal.
Product Development & Execution
- Own the design process from concept to final production, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Design and develop technical products tailored to the needs of our Government and Industrial division (FELSA).
- Work closely with the Product, Buying, and Technical teams to ensure seamless product development.
- Collaborate with suppliers and product developers to develop and refine fabrics, trims, and printing techniques.
- Create accurate and detailed artwork files, tech packs, and production specs for manufacturers.
- Maintain an understanding of print production processes to ensure designs translate effectively.
- Manage colour development and approvals, ensuring consistency across the product range.
Brand Consistency & Visual Communication
- Ensure that all bespoke graphics and prints reinforce the brand’s unique identity.
- Build and present clear, visually compelling mood boards and design concepts for key stakeholders.
- Confidently present design proposals to the Design Team, Product Team, and Directors.
- Work alongside the Marketing Team to develop supporting materials like swing tags, packaging, and branding elements.
Commercial Awareness & Innovation
- Use sales insights and customer feedback to refine and improve designs for future collections.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, innovating with new print and graphic techniques.
- Identify opportunities for bespoke customisation and personalisation within the product range.
Collaboration & Supplier Relationships
- Manage supplier communication to ensure timely submissions and accurate print execution.
- Build strong relationships with production partners to enhance efficiency and innovation.
What you’ll bring to Fourth Element
- Strong illustration, graphic design, and print development skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft applications and InDesign.
- A keen eye for colour, composition, and typography in print design.
- Understanding of fabric properties, print techniques, and production processes.
- Understanding of garment design and construction.
- Experience with diving or performance sportswear is advantageous
- Ability to develop seamless repeat patterns and engineered prints.
- Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects.
- Detail-oriented with excellent file organisation and documentation skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance creativity with business objectives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A strong team player with a collaborative approach.
- Open to learning and keen to develop design expertise.
- Passionate about sustainability and environmentally focused initiatives.
