Industrial Designer (Mid to Senior Level) – Freelance to Full-Time

Friends of is seeking a talented, driven mid-to-senior level Industrial Designer to join our growing team. This is a full-time freelance position with the potential to transition into a salaried role. We’re currently looking for local candidates based in the NYC area who are excited to collaborate in our studio environment.

As a small but dynamic team, we work across a wide range of industries, including consumer electronics, furniture, medical devices, and everything in between. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a variety of products, with a focus on design that is intended for production and real-world use. Each team member plays a key role in managing schedules, deliverables, and communication, so while exceptional design work is essential, strong project management skills are also necessary to oversee projects from concept to completion.

What We’re Looking For:

• A portfolio showcasing a diverse range of product design work, with experience seeing products through to production (engineering, manufacturing, and retail).
• Experience working in cross-functional teams, balancing creative design with practical constraints and production requirements.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to drive projects forward from ideation to final deliverables.
• A passion for design and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to deliver exceptional work under deadlines.
