Are you an experienced Industrial Designer looking for a new opportunity in Sydney? Our client has a strong foundation in industrial design with various market-leading products performing in line with their international clients’ demands. Based on this, they are now looking to expand their Sydney innovation and design team.

Our client delivers specialist, physical hardware products and innovative electronics technology to global customers. This is a successful Australian company, with new design headquarters in a great central Sydney location.

The Role

In this Senior Industrial Designer role, you’ll not only have team lead responsibilities but will also be involved in the development of new designs, taking them from conception through to production. Special emphasis will be on in situ modelling and photorealistic rendering. You will:

• Take ownership of new product designs, seeing innovation and concepts through the complete journey to product release
• Present impressive design concepts and solutions through modelling, rendering and prototyping
• Specialise in photorealistic in situ product rendering
• Improve, maintain and update current products based on feedback from various teams, end-users and manufacturers
• Communicate with stakeholders and manage project outcomes
• Develop and maintain bill of materials, assembly documentation, accessories and packaging solutions

Skills and experience

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or relevant engineering discipline, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial design, with preference for Defence, Medical, Aerospace or Consumer Electronics industries
Team leadership experience
Experience in Solidworks, Adobe Suite (Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Keyshot (desirable)
Strong ideation and sketching skills to effectively communicate ideas
Knowledge of complex surface modelling
Previous experience in design for manufacture with knowledge of various manufacturing techniques
Excellent task and time management skills
Photography and video editing experience – preferable
You would excel in a high empowerment, fast paced environment, surrounded by likeminded, high achieving people

Australian citizenship preferred for security level clearance requirements
