To do this, Tom takes apart a range of iconic products, examines closely how they are made, what they are made from and how this links back to style and function. The knowledge learned from this course will assist you in the design of parts which are realizable from the very beginning with key details such as ; wall thickness, choice of materials, parting lines and designing for assembly.

The course is divided into the analysis of 5 different products, with each product broken down into 3 parts: Part 1: overview of the product Part 2: detailed inspection of internal parts Part 3: discussion of manufacturing techniques and why it has been designed in the way it has been and how Designers can incorporate some of these techniques to ensure manufacturability of their own products.
