OPPORTUNITY

 

Color Material and Finish (CMF)

• Implement CMF specifications for manufacturing and work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Manufacturing teams to ensure quality execution.

• Will monitor trials on site and support with inspections of the samples and advise on how to improve them, serve as communication liaison between core CMF team and our manufacturer partners and be responsible for reviewing and approving samples for color and finish, evaluate and qualify new materials for future use.

• Manage our CMF archive, equipment, color chips, color analysis and vendor approvals.

• Assist the CMF team in developing and establishing new processes and methods to elevate our work and drive efficiencies.

 

Industrial Design

•  Work on the implement and support on the ID design initiated by design center team and final qualification. Work closely with team members to provide professional ID support on all stages that meet program needs.

•  Keep well communication and collaboration with the inside team members and suppliers, provide effective and in time ID support and delivery, and contribute to the programs running well and the final appearances of the products match the high cosmetic quality standards of Bose.
• Interact with Engineering, Marketing and Manufacturing personnel as necessary to ensure the successful transition of product designs to production. Participate in engineering builds and pilot production reviews to ensure execution of the final industrial design as intended, or if necessary, to modify the design to suit manufacturing capabilities with minimal impact to the design intent and strategy.

• Collaborate as part of a cross functional teams to develop product cosmetic definitions.   Participate in user research and establish the aesthetic vision for the product.

• Support developing the approved new product concepts in conjunction with cross-functional team members in a manner to deliver improved usability to the user and to create unique design opportunities.

• Generate exploratory industrial design concepts in support of the Industrial Design Strategy and Divisional strategies.

• Work on the concept exploration and document in formats suitable for use in consumer research, cross-functional team meetings, and reviews with senior management. Provide valuable ID observation on the Asia market.

• Document the product design in formats suitable for use by the model making and engineering staff, including computer surface models in 2D/3D CAD and in the Bose® ID Specification Document.

• Specify and document an approved design’s form, color specifications, materials/finishes and visual acceptance standards for Engineering and Manufacturing through the generation of the “Industrial Design Specification”.

• Skills to communicate and present concepts, architectures, documentation and specifications both internally (BDC) and externally.

• Travel as required in support of assigned projects.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

BID, BS or BFA in industrial design.

 

Experience

• 3~5 years’ experience in all phases of the CMF and ID process.

• Ability to tune samples to achieve tight color matching, must have high color vision acuity，
  Experience in operating spectrophotometers, Expertise in CMF technologies, diverse material knowledge, properties, and processes (i.e. plastics, leather fabric, paint)

• Solid understanding of design for plastics injection molding; metal processing (machining, die casting, stamping etc.); and post finishing; (e.g., painting, plating, anodizing, etc.).
• Ability to demonstrate superior creative, aesthetic, and concept development skills.

• Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, agile team environment， strong communications, and presentation skills; good written and verbal language skills including English and Mandarin

• Highly organized; ability to work autonomously.

• Must have vendor management experience.

• Must use Adobe CC and Microsoft Office, Keyshot. Experience in 2D and 3D CAD is required. Experience in NX is preferred; Experience with other 3D drafting software such as Catia, Alias Studio, Rhino, ProE is a plus.

• Experiences in consumer electronics industry or automotive industry is preferred.
