Junior Industrial Designer at
Laerdal

The Opportunity

Who are we?
Laerdal Medical is a world leader in healthcare education and resuscitation training that uses immersive technologies and data-centric insights to increase survival and improve healthcare quality. Our products and services are used by hospitals, ambulance services, first aid organizations, educational institutions, and others around the world. We are a dynamic and energetic organization consisting of people from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. Our goal is to help save one million more lives, every year, by 2030, and to do so in a sustainable way.

About the role
We are looking for a Junior Industrial Designer to join our Resuscitation Hardware team in Stavanger, Norway.

As an Industrial Designer in the Resuscitation Hardware team, you will be working on products that help train high-performance CPR to lay people and medical professionals. It is a cross-disciplinary team in which you will work closely together with Product Managers and our talented Engineers. You will get mentorship from the lead industrial designer in the team to understand our products and thrive at Laerdal Medical.

Beyond the resuscitation hardware team, you will have an award-winning group of designers throughout our organization for support and inspiration.

Some of what you will be doing
-Design and develop product improvements and new solutions
-Conduct user research to uncover user needs and insights, through qualitative and quantitative methods
-Contribute to writing user requirements and design briefs
-Prototype and run experiments to test assumptions and validate design solutions.
-Visualize, structure and communicate user insights, ideas and designs within your team.
-Collaborate with Product Managers, Developers and other design disciplines
-Contribute to LIFE, our design system, and collaborate with the other industrial designer to ensure our products are coherent in terms of user experience and look and feel

Who we envision would fit the role
-Bachelor's or master's degree within industrial design
-You are newly graduated or have around 2 years of relevant experience
-Strong design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
-Experience in involving the user throughout the design process (observe and speak with people, not only desk research and surveys)
-Experience in running experiments to test assumptions during the design process
-Some experience in designing solutions with touchpoints across physical, digital and service. Though we have dedicated UX and Service Designers, we find it beneficial for industrial designers to be able to think of concepts that stretch beyond the physical object.
-Profound insight in user-centered design methodologies
-Strong communication and visualization skills, through sketching, rapid prototyping, or 3D modelling and rendering
-Great collaboration skills

Some of what we can offer you
At Laerdal, you will get the opportunity to learn, develop, and innovate and you will be a part of a local and international working environment where the possibility to make an impact is endless.

- An interesting and important job contributing to our mission
- Great opportunities for growth and personal development
- A multicultural office environment and collaboration with strong team in Stavanger and the 26 locations around the world.
- A creative, diverse, and inclusive organization
- A job in a company driving forward-thinking technology
- Competitive salary, pension scheme, and insurance
- An extensive welfare program with company benefits such as discounted public transport, indoor bicycle garage, and workshop, wardrobe with towel service, social and sports groups, company cabins, and more
