The role:

At Fitbit, CMF is not just a superficial application but a core part of everything from initial inspiration to the end experience of a product. In this role, you will create a vision for your projects and carry it through production. You will bring a fresh perspective to our team and push the boundaries of CMF.

What You’ll Work On: 

  • Participate in design trend and market research to understand the wants, needs and opportunities for innovation in a project.
  • Contribute to the evolving design culture and process in the studio.
  • Create high quality presentation materials that communicate the design intent at any phase in a project.
  • Track and resolve design related issues by proactively communicating with internal and external teams.
  • Update any design change and/or open item that impacts project schedule, scope of work to CMF design manager and CMF project manager.
  • Manage multiple programs under the direction of CMF design manager to develop design concepts from early concept through to production.
  • Manage design deliverables and communication with ID and engineering teams.
  • Synthesize external design input, new technologies, and innovative materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Investigate, kick off, and evangelize design initiatives based on design research.
  • Take on design management tasks in coordination with your manager.
  • Present and evangelize design concepts to internal teams and executives.
  • Accurately judge level of effort for individual and team design contributions.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of progressive CMF design experience for consumer products (and the portfolio to prove it)
  • Fluent in relevant software (Adobe CC, 3D CAD, MS Office, etc.), tools, materials (from consumer electronics to fashion), and manufacturing processes
  • Product rendering skills for presentation purposes is a plus
  • Thorough understanding and hands-on experience with all phases of the CMF design process- from trend research and palette development to manufacturing execution
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to work seamlessly across functions
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant design field (Industrial Design, Graphic Design, etc.)
