At Royal Enfield Colour, trim and graphics (CTG) play a central role in creation of product identity and in raising a brand perception. The selection of the right materials, colour and surface treatment is an effective tool to achieve perception of high product quality.
Colour, trim and graphics form an important part in targeting a product to its potential market. It is often a cost effective method of product differentiation; broadening a product line, re-branding, creating special editions or keeping a long running model in line with trends.
You will work with the Industrial Design team to create product graphics, logos, badges and colour schemes. You will liaise with suppliers to design and develop innovative solutions for different materials, surface finishes and colour proposals. You will visit the most important trade fairs to research current and future trends, new materials and technologies.
In addition to the primary task of designing CTG for motorcycle mass production there will be opportunities to work across departments on projects such as apparel and promotional materials, illustration, marketing aids as well the ongoing Custom bike program.
Successful candidates have worked at least 5 years in a professional design studio environment on production projects. All candidates must be able to work to tight deadlines closely with fellow team members. Occasional business trips (2-5 times per year) to India will be part of this role. The internal team language is English.
Responsibilities include :
Drive CTG design for interdisciplinary projects, from kick-off to launch.
Present and evolve your concepts.
Work closely with transportation and product designers to reinforce design with CTG concepts.
Develop graphics and colour concepts for vehicles, hard goods and accessories.
Research new materials and technologies. Benchmark and understand target markets.
Research and forecast design, colour and material trends within automotive and other industries including benchmarking relevant competitors
Analyse ‘Brand DNA’ as it relates to the vehicle line and create appropriate designs
Work alongside other studio based functions including Industrial Design, CAD and model making to develop exciting CTG proposals.
Prepare 2D concept sketches using appropriate technology.
Collaborate with other disciplines such as engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to execute on project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
Follow the development of physical models by working with the design and modelling team to apply paint and other finishes, 2d graphics and 3d badges using the latest prototyping technologies.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor's degree or above in Automotive/Transportation/Industrial/ Graphic Design (or similar).
Effective interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people from International backgrounds.
Demonstrate passion for colour, design and most importantly, motorcycles!
Strong communication skills to effectively sell your ideas.
Excellent attention to detail.
Have exceptional design intuition, strong problem-solving skills and an ability to visually communicate through sketches, and renderings.
Ability to think three-dimensionally with a strong emphasis on proportions and a refined sense of form in relation to applying graphic to a motorcycle body.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for visual communication for all design assignments.
