THE OPPORTUNITY

To support the growth of our activity and our design ambitions, we are looking for a talented student in industrial design to join our Lighting department for a six-months long internship between January and July 2023. While being supervised by a senior designer, You will join a multidisciplinary team involved in the development of our exclusive products for Leroy Merlin. You will discover and take part in the creation of Collections for a major brand dedicated to home improvement through decorative, outdoor and technical lighting categories.
We are located in the North of France, in the vibrant European metropolis of Lille, elected World Design Capital in 2020.

YOUR PROFILE

Curious, autonomous, organized, you must be in the 4th or 5th year of a product-oriented Master\'s program, with a strong affinity for the world of interior design and decoration. A \"solution seeker\" profile is also necessary given the industrial, technological and environmental challenges targeted.
You are comfortable using Solidworks and can model industrially viable products independently.
With strong communication skills, you are fully operational with InDesign and the Adobe suite in general.
Experience abroad and other languages will be highly appreciated.

YOUR SKILLS 

• 4 or 5 years of higher education in product design
• Good daily practice for sketches (paper and Procreate)
• Good knowledge (if not mastery) of the Adobe suite (primarily Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign)
• Good knowledge 3D modeling (Solidworks) and rendering/texturing (Keyshot / Substance)
• Good awareness of environmental challenges
• Good command of English
• Good command of French (foreign student a plus)

YOUR MISSION

• Assist the designers of the Inspire brand (mainly on the lighting activity).
• Preparing, co-facilitating and processing the results of co-creation workshops (including prototyping in groups of +/- novice participants).
• Follow the creation phases of the new lighting collections: from the analysis of use, research on trends and styles, creation of moodboards or concept boards, representation of ideas (hand-drawn), 3D modeling of the selected creative paths, creation of 3D renderings, possible creation of models.
• Creation of communication elements and internal and external promotion of our ranges.
• Preparing and supporting (in English A+) project presentations during product workshops (design selection meeting).
• Take part in the life of the office and the internal-external design community.
