The Opportunity

Job Title: Graphic Designer

General Overview: The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Rawlings and Easton design & product teams to support product lines with Graphic Design. This position will define what the brands look like to the customer, to the retailer and to anyone else who is exposed to the brands. The position will focus mostly on generating graphic designs on the bat line, but it will involve other categories within the product line including soft goods and packaging. The position also requires a full range of design skills as well as organized technical skills to help bring these products to life.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drives product innovation and “best in class” thinking.
  • Creates graphic concepts, color placement, and branding strategy for specific products, based on information from Marketing Brief and company Design Strategy.
  • Conceptualizes, designs and creates packaging materials for all relative products in Rawlings/Easton portfolios.
  • Communicates graphic/logo concepts to Design, Marketing, and Development, which may include sketches, computer and/or hand-drawn renderings, technical illustrations, and anything else which may help to communicate any aspect of the product. Ensures feasibility of concepts, meeting product cost targets and respecting project timelines.
  • Research graphic, branding, and color trends, both inside the baseball industry as well as outside. Attends shows, visits retailers, attends focus groups with consumers, reads magazines, web research, discussions with vendors, etc. Utilizes the research in presentations, to help support graphic solutions.
  • Presents new concepts and ideas to teammates in Development, Design, and Marketing. Encourages innovation on current projects as well as introduces ideas for future product graphic trends.
  • Participates in validation studies and drives consumer connection.
  • Works on multiple projects within a fast-paced stage-gate environment.
  • Develops and nurtures a portfolio of advance concept designs.
  • Manages and continuously improves the Graphic Creation process.
  • Creates and renders photorealistic images for presentations, catalog and website.
  • Problem solves design & manufacturing issues.
  • Prepares mockup fabrication periodically.
  • Works in tandem with the product team to help clarify objectives with vendors.
  • Basic understanding of Branding and Print

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Industrial Design, Graphic Design or a related field and 3+ years of experience.
  • Masterful knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience using Keyshot preferred.
  • Strong process and project management experience.
  • Ability to create clear and well composed tech-packs.
  • Experience with file management and documentation required.
  • Experience with software programs:
  • Adobe Illustrator is a requirement.
  • Adobe Suite is preferred.
  • SolidWorks is preferred
  • Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Must be detail orientated with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage time and work on multiple projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions: General office working conditions some domestic and international travel. Travel internationally 8-10 weeks or as needed and/or required by essential job functions.

Safety Hazards: Minimal

Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, internal employees or organizations. Must have proven exceptional written presentation and verbal communication skills.

Strong math aptitude with ability to interpret data analysis reporting.

Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
