The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join the Industrial Design team for an industry-leading family of connected-fitness products and accessories. In this role, you will aid in the design of the functional, aesthetic, and user experience aspects of our Consumer Electronics. You’ll work closely with our talented team of designers, engineers, outside vendors, and key business stakeholders to develop new products and features that elevate our quality and brand.
About you
- You have working knowledge of the Product Development Process and are beginning to specialize in one or more areas of design. Your work is complex, requiring a high degree of creative thinking to solve problems.
- You lead complex projects with direction from senior design leaders and input from cross-functional partners.
- You have the ability to self-define relevant parameters to work within; set and prioritize deliverables with appropriate timeframes to meet program + phase objectives. You ask the right questions to help inform and define outcomes and deliverables for yourself and other Jr ID.
- You have experience bringing consumer electronics products to market and have worked with ME’s and EE’s to maintain design intent through DFM.
- You have experience collaborating with product managers on product roadmap development and proposals.
In this role you will
- Make design decisions for a product or component and explain how those decisions were made
- Utilize a variety of inputs to stimulate creative thinking, make design proposals and evolve our design language
- Communicate your ideas via physical prototypes, sketches, presentations and CAD - effectively articulate your design ideas to stakeholders across the company
- Execute all tasks with high quality - develop, deploy and maintain designs with limited to no oversight
- Produce work that is free of major technical defect - you are able to debug and fix issues when they arise, mostly independently
- Troubleshoot technical challenges with cross-functional partners and vendors to maintain design intent
- Actively engage in and facilitate team discussions to foster healthy design debates and mediate conversations between functions to help drive towards decisions
- Own and drive presenting your work - carefully crafting your presentations based on understanding your target audience
- Provide feedback to others to ensure progress within the team and the organization
- Carefully document and share learnings and processes from feedback and retrospectives that help inform future solutions
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot PCB, thermal, and other EE issues as they arise
- Ensure products meet domestic and international regulatory requirements
- Build roadmap proposals for the future of consumer electronics at Peloton
- Lead Jr ID throughout the exploration and development process
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design (or equivalent)
- 5+ years of design experience (2+ years in consumer electronics)
- Proficient in Solidworks (working with surface modeling + curvature continuous CAD)
- Proficient in Keyshot
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
- Experience using Google Docs, Slides, Sheets (or equivalent)
Bonus Qualifications
- Fitness industry experience
- Advanced surfacing with Alias, or Rhino
- Experience working with cross functional team such as ME and EE
- Personal interest in wellness or fitness
