Friends of is an industrial design studio based in New York City. We design thoughtful products for a wide range of clients, from the single person start-up to the big multinational household name. We believe that one of the biggest risks to great design is the designer not seeing the product through to manufacture - we work with our partners until a product is approved for production. We deliver amazing design work to our partners, but we deeply care for and enjoy our work. We take care of ourselves and respect our time away from the office as much as we do at the office. 

About the Job

We’re looking for an experienced, talented industrial designer to join us in our studio. You will have the opportunity to run projects from concept through to manufacture, working with the Friends of team as well as partners, stakeholders and manufacturers. You’ll have the opportunity to lead teams of designers and product developers. 

We’re looking for collaborators who are interested in helping define the direction of our studio and who are eager to help grow the business with us!

Requirements

• Successfully brought products in a range of categories to market
• Outstanding presentation and communication skills
• Self starting, positive attitude
• Out of the box, creative thinking
• Strong 3D, 2D and visualization skills
• Ability to manage timelines and budgets for multiple clients simultaneously
• Deep understanding of manufacturing and production processes
• Model making and prototyping skills
• Desire and ability to work from our New York City studio
