JOB TITLE: Design Engineer

SALARY: £33,000 - £40,000

JOB TYPE: Permanent

This role will play a key part of the design teams efforts to continually push boundaries and challenge standards within the industry. You’ll be part of a small multifunctional design team and be responsible for managing between 1 - 3 other designers at any one time depending on the project.

You will need to have a solid understanding and proven experience of taking a project from conception through to production, ensuring gateways and targets are met along the way and keeping projects in line with a commercial strategy. This involves working closely with the Product Director, Sales Team & Production manager.

Whilst your primary role will be ensuring delivery of consumer-based projects there will be opportunity to be involved in experimental research contracts, which can range from acoustics to autonomous flight, so there\\\'s plenty of opportunity to gain new experience and grow as a professional.


  • Project management- managing multiple project plans & ensuring deadlines are met to the best of the team’s ability
  • Brief & spec creation - Working with commercial teams to ensure concepts adhere to commercial strategy from the beginning
  • Creation & ownership of advanced CAD models
  • Production support- Assisting production & logistics with any failures of existing products that can be aided with design
  • Liaise with external manufacturers- get quotes, iron out production issues
  • Team Management- Manage junior designers & contractors
  • Ownership of BOM\\\'s
  • Cost & weight reduction of existing components



  • 3 yrs. industry experience minimum
  • Solid DFM knowledge of a range of manufacture process\\\'
  • Autonomy- ability to problem solve & learn independently
  • Experience in helping to get the most out of a small team
  • The ability to work with financial information with technical decision-making
  • Core CAD (solidworks preferred)
    - Creation & management of complex assembly\\\'s
    - Experience with master parts/ geometry
    - Management of PDM (vault) software


  • Experience in electrical engineering and systems
  • Injection moulding, design, materials and manufacture
  • Sketching/ hand communication skills
  • Coding
  • Supply chain sourcing with strong communication & negotiation skills
  • Evidence of an innovative approach to technical problem solving and process development
  • The ability to recognise the value of and employ best-in-class processes wherever practicable
  • Bonus CAD
    - Surface modelling
    - FEA Simulation
