At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you’ll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.
Sonos is seeking a senior level Industrial Designer to join its high-performing, and collaborative Design Development team. The role of a Senior Designer in Design Development at Sonos requires balancing a deep sense of collaboration & communication, with an eye for design coherence, beautiful surface quality, finessed details, and a desire to deliver the ‘right product’ that brings the highest quality design directly to our listeners. This comes through working together with your colleagues in the Sonos Hardware Design team, Design Management, Engineering, and several other cross-functional teams in Sonos. In doing this, designers at Sonos are expected to embrace the company design team behaviors of Trust, Debate, and Accountability.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Senior Designer in Design Development, you are expected to collaborate with & support teammates in the design team to help deliver the highest quality design. Your core responsibility will be to create, refine, and manage the 3D design intent modeling, related specifications, & artwork throughout the Sonos Product Development Process. These efforts begin in our early Creation Phase, and carry on through to the launch of a new product. During this journey together with your teammates you will navigate through the development phases balancing both design & engineering needs in a way that honors the intended design. In later phases you will be responsible for the leadership of the industrial design for the project to see it through to a successful launch. Your role, however, is not limited to this. You should also be ready to contribute to early design team concept exploration sprints, visualizations, & presentations, and be willing to mentor younger designers if needed. You will also be involved in defining, refining, & implementing best practices & process in design, and with partner teams in Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management. The aim of this is to maintain design quality throughout the product development process. Design Development is committed to delivering design for public launch that clearly captures the ideals of the design intent.
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED:
Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.
