Senior Industrial Designer - Permanent position

The role:
The Middle Management-Industrial Design will be influential in all stages of the development of new motorcycles and their accessories, from research and concept creation in 2D through to 3D surface development and supporting the Engineering team into production. The incumbent will provide creative solutions whilst adhering to brand strategy, packaging, ergonomic and time constraints. He/ she will communicate proposals visually through sketches & 3D models and collaborate with other teams to ensure design intent is followed through, both in the vehicle production as well as in supporting on-bike accessory creation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide design support to product strategy for product development and all research related activities in order to preserve design intent through the development process
Devise practical, innovative and exciting Industrial Design proposals for electric vehicle
Provide Industrial Design support to Product Development & Current Engineering teams to translate product characteristics into valid engineering models and for changes in existing products
Provide Industrial Design support to various projects across the departments to ensure the brand philosophy and design hygiene is constant for all the stakeholders and users to experience whilst improving quality of Royal Enfield products to match the customer expectations
Devise unique design propositions as an initiative from the ID studio to address customers emotional needs or company\'s cost requirements that have been overlooked in the Product strategy
Provide 2D and 3D drawings and packages OTIF in relation to specific project deliverables and manage styling, modelling and CAS activities
Create an ideation sketch based on product characteristics defined in the design brief by working with the product strategy team
Facilitate initial brainstorming to finalise the new product sketch by human factor exploration through mock ups and analysis of alternatives
Prepare finalized CAD model based on surfacing and digitizing clay models and confirm the same with the Head Program Manager
For existing products, work with the Current Engineering team to refine and improve component designs highlighted in test failures
Build industrial design capability for RE by recommending procurement of design infrastructure, hardware and software
Evaluate and recommend collaboration opportunities with external designers or design houses
Keep abreast of latest trends in Industrial Design focusing on energy efficient design and provide suggestions for best practices and continuous improvement
Skills and Qualifications required:
Education:
BTech in automobile/mechanical engineering or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in industrial design (Preferred)
Skills and experience:
7+ years in product design in the motorcycle industry
Experience in an Automotive OEM or Independent Studio working with OEMs
Strong sketching/ rendering skills, proficient in Photoshop.
3D skills in Alias and/ or Rhino3D
Experience in motorcycle accessory design and development
