Trends & Inspiration

[WACACO DESIGN CONTEST] Theo Finck, a talented young designer from France, stood out among over 100 participants to claim first place in the coffee maker design contest. Here’s what he shared about his winning concept:
“ My coffee maker concept, the Wildmoka, is deeply inspired by the essence of two worlds, coffee and nature exploration. My goal was to take the Pipamoka's core technology and enhance its ergonomics, focusing on ease of use, grip and transportability. Drawing inspiration from the coffee plant's leaf, I designed a surface treatment that not only suggests the rotation of the ring but also improves the grip, giving the product a new identity while preserving its key attributes. While initially I thought about integrating a solution for preheating water before coffee preparation, I decided to approach the project more poetically. I also deliberately chose not to incorporate electricity into the design to stay true to the values of Wacaco's product range. “

A big thank you to Théo for his innovative and thoughtful design!

[WACACO DESIGN CONTEST] Michele Di Carlo, a designer from Italy, shares his insights on his innovative approach to the Pipamoka design:
" For instance, many users pointed out the significant force required to rotate the ring and the discomfort it caused to their hands. To tackle this issue, I grounded my concept on a simple yet effective principle: leverage. I integrated a carabiner into the design, which not only reduces the effort needed for rotation but also doubles as a functional accessory that can be clipped onto a backpack—perfect for trekking and outdoor adventures. I strongly believe that design should always address user needs, enhancing usability and the overall experience while remaining visually appealing. When a product is both practical and enjoyable to use, it transcends functionality and becomes truly beautiful. "
Michele's thoughtful design underscores the perfect balance between form and function, creating a product that resonates with users on multiple levels.
