Scope:

Stanley Black & Decker is the leading global producer of hand, pneumatic and power tools. We are looking for a highly motivated Industrial Designer to join our Industrial Design Team headquartered in Towson, Maryland, about 25 minutes North of Baltimore. While we are headquartered in Baltimore our team is comprised of global studios in five countries.

The GCX Industrial Design Team which part of Stanley Black & Decker’s Global Tools and Storage division, provides end user insights, innovation, industrial design, final surfacing, digital visualization and prototyping support for several key Brand franchises. These include, STANLEY, BLACK + DECKER, DEWALT, CRAFTSMAN, MAC Tools, PORTER CABLE, BOSTITCH, IRWIN & LENOX.

Key Responsibilities:

Ability to create compelling designs based on research and complex product requirements.

Desire to work in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural team

Develop a mastery of the respective brand design languages

Proven experience with designing for various manufacturing processes.

Conceptual CAD, confidence to fully support the industrial design process.

Great communication & collaboration abilities with other disciplines.

Excellent creative problem solving, able to lead ideation and brainstorming efforts.

Capable of multi-tasking, demonstrated project and time management skills.

Self-motivated and a positive attitude.

 

Employee Specifications:

Exceptional sketching and visualization skills. (Wacom Cintiq a must).

3D solid and surface modeling skills. (SolidWorks, CREO, with CATIA being a major asset.)

Fluent with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).

Manage daily industrial design responsibilities for all supported projects.

Experience working and communicating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Mechanical aptitude and experience with power tools a definite plus

Requirements:

4 Year degree in Industrial Design (BS, BA, BSID, BID).

3-5 years prior experience in a similar position
