Curio is a startup but will leverage Munchkin’s innovation, supply chain and brand design capabilities with an initial direct to consumer (DTC) launch.

What You’ll Do

Curio Home Goods is seeking out a highly skilled senior industrial designer. You must exhibit a love of aesthetics that is founded in craft, materiality, and a curiosity of how things work. We are looking for people who understand design is a physical process, prototyping, testing and experiencing ideas in the round are vital for success. You will be joining the inaugural team of a new direct-to-consumer home and lifestyle brand. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Industrial Design, you will have a critical role of concepting, developing new products for Curio and defining what the brand can be. In this role you will contribute to all aspects of industrial design and product innovation, taking products from concept through production.

  • Manage all aspects of the product development process on assigned projects from initial concept to generating new product innovations through manufacturing
  • Conceptualize, illustrate, and communicate new product concepts through efficient ideation sketching, 3D CAD drawings, mockups and preparing presentation boards
  • Participate in concept research, product definition, customer needs and reviews, feasibility and specifications that lead to concept visions and product refinements
  • Evaluate, analyze and make recommendations for product cost, feature, and functionality improvements
  • Elevate competitive position of the product Evaluate current and proposed products based on factors such as appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, production costs and specifications
  • Responsible for working closely with the Engineering, Marketing, Brand, Creative, and Compliance departments to drive brand consistency across all products and to establish key design features
  • Assess product obstacles and use design skills to successfully complete the project
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications as well as safety requirements
  • Perform competitive assessments
  • Analyze and help define color, materials, and finishes
  • Mentor and oversee projects with interns
  • Other duties may be assigned

Bring it!

  • Bachelor\\\'s degree (B.S.) in Industrial Design preferred; and 5+ years of experience designing product to production, in consumer products or consumer electronics industry preferred
  • Experience with all phases of the design process, including trend research, design strategy, concept development, and manufacturing execution
  • Must possess some knowledge of manufacture engineering, including molding techniques (injection), blow molding, rotocast, compression, plastics, printing basics
  • Must possess some knowledge of manufacture engineering, including molding techniques, metal castings, CNC production, glass, wood and ceramic experience is also preferred
  • Must be highly proficient in 3D digital modeling, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations regarding safety standards
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with excellent time management
  • Ability to thoughtfully communicate your designs, receive feedback gracefully, and contribute to the work of others
  • Excellent team player and independent worker

Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000
